Once again, Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth has found it necessary to sign on to a letter with other State Treasurers, Auditors, and Financial Officers, to express opposition to the Biden nomination of Saule Omarova to the nation's important office of bank regulator.
"Stay vigilant Idaho!" said Treasurer Ellsworth. "The nomination of Saule Omarova to lead the office of Comptroller of the Currency is a bad choice and the Senate Banking Committee should vote no on her nomination. Ms. Omarova has been vocal in her support of 'ending the banking industry as we know it,' and transferring private banking functions to the Federal Reserve. I encourage all Idahoans to contact members of the Senate Banking Committee urging them to vote no on the nomination."
State Financial Officers and many state leaders as well as the banking industry oppose Ms. Omarova because of her radical views. They have a deep concern that she would abuse her supervisory power as Comptroller overseeing more than 1,000 banks, to expand political control over the private banking sector.
